Gamer’s dream of creating their own video game. They imagine and have Other Guitars vision of what their game would be like. What is fun and what they consider would be the ultimate game to play. Game design is the forum to express those ideas.

Game development has become a giant of an industry. It is taking the nation by storm and you can get a big piece of the excitement and turn it into a winning career. Some gamers toy with the idea of becoming a game designer or creating their own game. This article explores how you can do this and turn your hobby into a lucrative and rewarding career.

Back in 1985 or so, hobbyists could not break into the industry and stay in very easily. Chris Crawford wrote about this in a Compute Magazine in February of ‘85. He explains that he would discourage anyone from trying because it would cause too much heartbreak when they couldn’t get into the industry. Never has this been more untrue, than in 2006.

Because of engines, innovative artistic tools, books on game development, etc. more designers, artists, writers, and creative people are getting into the industry and staying in the industry. Success can be a long, hard road, but passion can pull you through to the most rewarding career of all. Whether it is the guy with a guitar who thinks he can be a rock star, or whether it’s the gamer with a pen who wants to be a game designer, the possibilities are endless with pursuant determination.

Never has there been more jobs available. The gaming industry is big and getting bigger.

Your desire to break into the industry is the key. This is the first step, passion. The next step is to focus your passion on where your talents lie. The third step is to go full board at pursuing your dreams, not stopping till you accomplish your goals. Just like in gaming!

As a game designer, you are required, isn’t that funny, to play a lot of games. This is because video game lovers often make the best video games. You will also need to have creative ideas, good communication skills, the know-how of the ins and outs of game play, as well as being able to make a game fun and exciting.

If your hobby and passion is video games, you can have a lucrative career in video games, doing the very thing you love.

Along with Friends and Seinfeld, Kelsey Grammer’s Cheers spin-off, Frasier, dominated the prime time television landscape during the 1990’s. Grammer plays the role of Dr. Frasier Crane who, fresh off of his divorce from Lilith, moves back to his hometown of Seattle where he lands a gig as a radio psychiatrist. Frasier’s father, Marty Crane (John Mahoney), a Seattle cop recently shot in an attempted convenience store robbery is in need of physical therapy. Frasier and his brother Niles (David Hyde Pierce) make an effort to mend their relationship with Marty whose Acoustic shirts and penchant for sports and beer strikes a dramatic contrast with their wine club, opera house culture. After a little prodding, Marty and his dog Eddie (Moose) move into Frasier’s upscale apartment, and Frasier hires Daphne Moon (Jane Leeves), a housekeeper and physical therapist to look after the two cranes.

The entirety of the show takes place in mostly three places - Frasier’s radio station where he works with show producer Roz Doyle (Peri Gilpin), Frasier’s apartment, and the favorite hangout of Niles and Frasier, Café Nervosa. A witty comedic exploration of the nation’s clash of cultures (also illustrated by Frasier’s run-ins with sports guy Bob “Bulldog” Briscoe), Frasier stands alone as one of the best-written shows in television history. Not a single episode can be considered a dud.

The Frasier DVD offers a number of hilarious episodes including the series premiere “The Good Son” in which the title character Dr. Frasier Crane moves back to his home town of Seattle, Washington. Living a comfortable lifestyle with his decorated bachelor pad and high-profile radio show, Frasier gets a rude awakening when his brother Niles points out that their father Marty can no longer live on his own due to a gunshot wound. Reluctantly, Frasier invites Marty to come live with him and the two eventually hire Daphne Moon as a housekeeper/physical therapist… Other notable episodes include “The Crucible” in which Frasier throws a lavish dinner party to celebrate the newest edition to his art collection only to learn from the artist herself that the painting is a forgery, and “Give Him The Chair!” in which Frasier tries to do a favor for Martin by throwing out his favorite chair, but Martin is raving mad, prompting Frasier to search all of Seattle to retrieve the priceless heirloom…

Things You Need To Know About Adaware Download

May 26th, 2008 by bitchery6928

The only problem with free Ansociety Leo Ghost Hunt 12 download software is that it does not protect your computer. Although it will delete spyware which has effected it, it will not stop the infection from occurring in the first place. To do that, you need to buy the adaware professional version, which is quite cheap, but still not free like the other one. If you do a lot of web surfing, it might be a worthy investment, but for my needs, the free adaware download software does the job quite well. I just need to remember to run a quick scan every couple of days, and it will catch any spyware, web diverters, malware, and other common junk slowing down your computer.

I got an adaware download when I noticed that my computer was running much slower than it should. Before I downloaded adaware, I was getting a ridiculous amount of pop-up ads as well, and my web-browser would crash every few minutes. I couldn’t understand what was going on. Was something wrong with my hard drive, I wondered? Was this a windows problem? Once I found out that a free adaware download was what I needed, my life quickly got much easier.

The adaware download went easily and smoothly. There were mirror sites all over the country, so it was no trouble to find an adaware download site close enough to provide a quick response. And installing the adaware download software was equally simple. Just click on it, and it runs itself! And not only was the adaware software free, but it was free with professional level service. Every week or so, there is a new adaware download update made to defend against the latest spyware.

Of course, along with an adaware download, you really need to an anti-virus program to fully protect your computer. An adaware download will go part of the way to protecting it from malware, but that stuff is merely annoying. Although spyware can slow down your computer, unless you are very unlucky it will seldom do anything to really mess it up. There are some versions which can be used to hack into your computer, but these are best caught by the anti-virus anyway. An anti-virus program can protect your computer from the really malicious bugs, in the same way that an anti-spyware program can protect it from the stuff which is merely annoying.

A Home Based Business Means Quick, Easy Money…And Flying Pigs!

May 25th, 2008 by bitchery6928

Oh yeah, here come those wonderful flying pigs!

Where does it ever end? I’ve been involved with Internet-based home businesses for several years and I continue to be exposed to a seemingly endless barrage of offers (all costing me money, of course) claiming to be “the secret” for making a fantastic income, in a very short time, and with very little effort involved.

I must admit that I may have a slightly self-serving reason for addressing this topic. My articles are published on my home-based business websites for the purpose of trying to give prospective team members a true sense of what is really involved with starting and developing a successful home based business.

The self-serving part, I suppose, is that I want people joining my team to have the straight scoop going in so that we don’t waste each other’s time. I admit to being selfish in this regard (I don’t want to waste time working with people that have unrealistic expectations), but it is also very efficient for both parties involved, so it is not a totally one-way thing.

Now, back to the topic at hand. There’s no magic here, folks.

Once you have selected the home business that you are going to pursue, there are no substitutes for time and effort in developing your business. A dream of being an “overnight success” is just that, a dream.

I can tell you from personal experience, that once you “pay your dues” and begin to have real success with a home based business, it is really terrific. Think about Nirvana or Valhalla, take your pick, but in any event it’s really sweet.

When I started developing a home based business, making a good income was obviously an objective, but I also had other sub-objectives. One of the most important things was to have nearly total time flexibility (I mean, if I was willing to continue to wear the 9-5 Mon-Fri collar I could just have just stayed in the previously “traditional” work force).

Time flexibility was (and still is) a “biggie” for me. Many people working at home have the same need for various reasons.

For work at home moms, a home business can be a real godsend to accommodate the hectic time pressures, particularly Service the kids are quite young and mom is also spelled “transportation”.

In my own particular case, the reason is not quite so noble…I just want (need?) to be able to pick up my fly rod and go fishing at a moments notice (sometimes I’ll be gone for a week or two at a time, but now the business has enough momentum that it keeps on operating just as well as if I were here tending to it on a daily basis).

Bear in mind, I am only able do the breakaway thing now that I have put in all the up-front time and effort and now have developed enough kinetic energy in my home-based Internet business to be able to enjoy the fruits of my labor.

Do not sit in front of your computer any more, wasting time and daydreaming. Begin today to take the necessary steps needed to make money on eBay™.

I have discovered how awesome eBay™ really is!

It was not too long ago that I had no clue what eBay™ was about, and now look at me, an eBay™ enlightened Mom!

Would you like to get there too? It is not difficult and it is really a lot of fun.

eBay™ is the latest, and greatest money-making endeavor I have found. And believe me, I have searched high and low in all kinds of markets and businesses to find something that could work for me.

Nothing I found seemed to tickle my fancy until eBay™. There were always too many loopholes to stop me from pursuing any of the ideas I came across. Such problems I found were, for example: the costs which seemed to escalate, the amount of time that was required was more than I could give, the steps were way too complicated and the end result always seemed way too small.

No, not me boy, I wanted to invest only a small amount of money, I wanted to spend about 15 hours on this per week, and I needed it to be pretty simple, something that if I stopped at any moment, (you know the kids always distract me at the wrong times) I needed to be able to pick up where I left off and not end up completely confused. Does this sound like the same issues you have had?

Let eBay™ be your solution to the fastest and most simple way of making money! Let me share the ropes with you so you can begin right away.

Step 1 - Log on to eBay™ and start exploring!

Sounds too easy right? Well it is, as I promised. Just look up searches for things you are interested in and see for yourself how items are listed.

Make note as to how some auctions draw your eye to them, and others don’t. Look at the titles of the items, which ones would you be more drawn to and why. Under the “search” box, use different words to describe what it is you want to find and see what comes up.

Notice how many different categories there are and observe the specialty sites. Interesting now isn’t it!

If you are feeling a bit more comfortable the next thing you should do is buy something from eBay™.

Step 2 - Buy something from eBay™.

The reason you need to buy something is because to be a good seller you must understand what it is like to be a buyer. You do not have to spend a lot of money here, in fact you should not spend a lot, just get your feet a bit wet and try it out.

To find out the steps in buying from eBay™ check out my other articles. You will see that it is not difficult to set up a buyer’s account on eBay™, AND you get to choose an eBay™ user ID, a code word if you like that eBay™ users will know you by. Sounds exciting now doesn’t it! Who knew that part of the process to making money on eBay™ was shopping! Well I would say that is just too much fun.

Okay, now you have browsed around eBay™, you have familiarized yourself with auctions, and you have purchased something! That is great and you are now ready to make some money.

Step 3 - Sell something from your attic.

Don’t panic if you do not have an attic. Do you have a cupboard, a closet, a drawer, a child! No, just kidding, there is no need to sell your firstborn, at least not yet! But you do need to find something to sell, and it would be best if it was not your mother’s $5,000.00 wedding ring please!

You do not want to start with an expensive item, remember this is a first sale for you so make it easy for yourself. Also, keep in mind shipping costs and packaging needs, so size and weight is a factor here.

Once you have found your first item, or items, take some really good pictures of them and upload the photos on your computer. You are now ready to set up a seller’s account on eBay™. My other articles can guide you through this process.

If you have followed these steps, you can sit back now and watch the price of your item go up and up, until at last someone buys it!

You have taken the plunge. In essence you have begun your exciting career on eBay™. May this be the beginning of a very profitable journey for you.

Pauline Kiselbach is a single mom of two who started with nothing and built a wildly profitable eBay business. She has put together a free multi-part mini-course to teach you how to generate quick and easy profits on eBay.

One Way Links Help Link Popularity?

May 23rd, 2008 by bitchery6928

Links that point from other sites are one way links and they are a tool that will have constructive to the webmaster. The webmaster’s decisive aspiration is to have many traffic visitors arriving to his website in the chance the visitor will stayand even make some purchases. The problem is, though, that you need to have visitors there. One way links may be able to help you. they help to create traffic to your website so that you will achieve a better rank in the very important search engines.

What is important to note here is; that there is no 100% accurateway to get at the very top of the results page. But, there are do many things to attempt your way up this ladder of success. One of them is using one way links. These links are quite simply a link to your site from other sites else’s website. Even though you have your link on their page, you do not have to put their link on your page. That’s a nice benefit because it keeps the traffic at your site, rather than leaving your website. Its benefical because the other website owner (the one that your link is at) is going to do his best to get traffic to his site. Others will arrive to yours through his website. What does that mean, more traffic from smallest amounts of work.

How does one way links help you rank in the search engines?

Ask yourself a question. Why do you think search engines perceive that your website must rank excellent if you have one way links to it? A reason for this is that your link is there, the website owner is attesting to the constitution of your website. Looking at the facts, the search engines also show that these links are excellent than reciprocal links based on the information. The search engines are even ranking those websites that will use fewer reciprocal links less highly because of this fact.

The other website owner is committing by placing your link on his page and the website owner not getting a link back, this is held at a higher standard than those that purchase reciprocal links.

How to locate links

As a matter of fact, the difficult part knowing and understanding the one way links in the first place. The superior webmasters are going to provide this to you if you just ask. If you have the bestquality content that is directly related to their website, they can do it. Of course, site owners will want something.

One strategy website owners have found that works well is to use article directories. Here, you will produce a well written, explanatory article (or more) about elements that may be in your website. Once the article is complete just add your link and information at the bottom. Webmasters come to the directory to find solid, favorableness content to create over on theirwebsite. When using your information, they have to use your link too. now you have a one way link pointing from the other sites.

One way links help you site achieve a better page rank on the search engines.

How To Choose The Right Residential Broadband Service

May 9th, 2008 by bitchery6928

The first thing you need to know is what is Broadband access? Broadband is defined as any data transmission that exceeds 600 bits per second. There are also residential and commercial versions of broadband and they are very different from each other. This is in terms of price, size and ability and, for the purposes of this article, we will be focusing on residential. For business, even a small business, they are much further ahead with a T1 line, but that is a different story.

There are three primary versions of Broadband Internet access available to the typical residential subscriber. The three kinds of broadband are DSL, cable and satellite. Each has its pluses and minuses and you should be familiar with them because these differences will help you decide which service is best for you and your individual needs.

DSL Digital Subscriber Service

Local and national phone companies offering broadband access offer this service. It accomplished the required data transfer rates by using two separate channels. One channel is used for data and one is used for voice communications. This allows them to push more information through the same size pipe.

The first advantage that most people like is that their phone calls do not interrupt their Internet usage or the other way around also works. You can achieve the higher speeds (128Kbs to 24,000Kbs) that you need to take advantage of most of the offerings on the Internet. The costs are also low, which for some is an advantage. For the best speeds with DSL you need to be within 2Km(1.25 miles) of a central office, beyond that and your speed drops dramatically. DSL is offering by most phone companies (although it is normally the most expensive option) as well as both local and national carriers.

Cable

This is exactly what it is, a coaxial cable of the same variety you use for receiving your cable TV signal. Your local cable company provides this service. Speeds are generally 1.5MB, 3MB and even 5MB in some markets. Your area has to have access to cable service in order for you to be able to have cable Internet service.

This is known as an always on service in that you are always connected and that is a two edged sword. You have instant access to everything that you want and it is a bad thing because the bad guys also have instant access to your system. It is highly recommended that you use a firewall and anti-virus software to protect your system from those that are up to no good.

Satellite

This service is available through companies like DirecTV, Dish Network and Hughes. They provide access to the Internet through both a phone line and a satellite dish. The upload is achieved using a phone line and the download side is through the satellite dish. This will mean longer time to upload files and faster times downloading files.

The advantage to this is that you only need access to a phone line and a satellite subscriber service. This frees you in having service anywhere there is a phone line installed. The disadvantage to this is that, during high wind events or severe storms, you may lose your satellite service and, thus, your Internet access. Also note that many satellite providers will LIMIT how much you can use the system over the month, and when you reach that limit, they will “throttle” your connection down to a much slower speed.

Note that even the top-end satellite systems are not going to be as fast as the majority of DSL or cable options. Also note that some things are not available to you with satellite Internet service, such as the ability to use VOIP phones. VOIP will not work reliably on a satellite connection, simply because of what is called “latency”, or the time it takes for the signal to get processed after it goes to the satellite and comes back to earth.

Student Savings: Save Paper, Save Money

May 8th, 2008 by bitchery6928

Did you know that North American academics are among the highest paper wasters in the world? If academics in China used as much paper as we do in North America, the world’s rainforest supply would be depleted within a year. You can choose to save paper, which is not only good for the environment, it’s also good for your wallet.

1. Double side everything.

Whether you are printing the prof’s powerpoint notes to take to lecture, or printing off an essay to proofread, always double side your paper. Keeping a tray of rough paper that you can print on the back of will definitely save you money.

And, as an added tip for printing off powerpoint presentation slides, try printing more than one slide per page. Often 8 slides per pages is a good size, but try to find the size that works for you.

2. Be creative.

It’s amazing how many handouts you get in class that you don’t even need. Perhaps the department requires that every single class hand out the plagiarism policy. Now you have five copies of the plagiarism policy, and nothing to do with them. Instead of simply throwing them out, you can also use this paper to print on!

Every department in a college has boards filled with paper. Often these are concert notices, upcoming conferences, or visiting lecturers. You can make it your job to help keep the departmental notice boards clean by taking down the notices that have passed their dates. You can then keep and print on this paper. Sometimes you get the best colours to print on this way!

3. Use a computer.

The more work that you can do onscreen, the less paper you will have to print. You will definitely have to print out your papers to do a final hard-copy proofread before you hand them in, but you don’t need to print out endless drafts of the same paper. Often, you can also email certain documents to your friends and classmates instead of printing them out. Instead of printing 30 handouts for your seminar presentation, email the handout to the class a few days before you present. This will save you the printing and photocopying costs. Be sure to email the handouts out at least two days before you present, however. You want to give your classmates enough time to read and print your material.

4. Work with your prof.

Some professors accept “green” submissions. (Here you can think of green as in saving the environment, and green as in saving you the cash in your wallet). This means that they will accept work that is printed off doublesided, or on the backs of different work. You should always ask before you submit your essay, however. Whatever the prof wants is paramount. Also, if you are giving the prof work with stuff on the back, make sure that it is something you don’t mind your professor seeing! Some professors also permit electronic submissions, which will also save you paper and ink.

5. Shop around.

Sometimes you come across something that you absolutely must photocopy or print. Check out the area around the university for the cheapest printing and photocopying. It probably won’t be on campus, and it probably won’t be a big chain like Kinko’s. You’ll want to find a small photocopying place, and often you can get your copies for as cheap as 3 or 4 cents. Sometimes convenience stores even have well-priced photocopiers.

6. Think of subsidies.

Particularly if you are a graduate student, you might be able to print your work at school in the department for a greatly reduced rate, or even for free sometimes. Sometimes services on campus allow members cheap printing-places such as the Women’s Center or the International Student’s Committee. If you are considering joining, or if you are already a member, take advantage of what you can. The best way to find out about deals like this is to attend information fairs and to ask people who have been on campus for a few years.

7. Remember the costs.

Sometimes printing at home is cheaper. Sometimes printing at school is cheaper. And generally photocopying is cheaper than printing. Often you will have a choice of what way to get your material printed, so choose the best one. And remember: you don’t have to always print on white paper. Plain lined paper (even the cheap stuff) prints fine on a computer as well.

You can save yourself money, and feel good about saving the environment by saving paper. It’s just one way to minimize the costs of your already expensive education.

Can You Get A Legal Music Download?

Downloadable, top quality music is a really appealing concept to many people, but many of us want to stay the right side of the law. There are some compelling reasons to download music: it is a great way to check out a track or two from an unknown artist before splashing out on the CD; it offers the downloader unrivaled ease - a few moments after deciding on a track, it is yours. And streaming songs are sometimes available for instant listening.

So what is the deal with the law? Many people will remember Napster being taken to court for encouraging file-sharing for free among peers. This court case judged that people sharing files in this way are breaking the law - the fact that money isn’t changing hands and no- one is profiting from it does not matter. Of course file sharing still goes on over peer to peer (P2P) networks (though not via Napster). Interestingly, recent research has shown that P2P is increasingly being used for legitimate file sharing - photos, files and so on - and not just for swapping copyrighted material.

If you want to stay the right side of the law, you should not download copyrighted material from the Internet. But the fact that this practice continues shows how many people think downloading their tunes is the best way to go. So if you want the convenience and ease without transgressing, how do you do it?

There are a variety of ways you can do it. With a decent connection such as broadband you will be able to get access to lots of great music from Internet Radio or from other web sites that play newly released albums - it often happens that the artist and record company has approved the streaming of their recently released albums. Streaming offers you the chance to listen to the album when it is playing but without getting your own copy downloaded. Closer to going to the store and listening to it on the headphones, but in the comfort of your home. Some useful sites to visit are MP3.com, Launch.com (a Yahoo site), search for Internet Radio via Google, or go to http://www.ytube.com. On these sites you can see and listen to music videos too.

So much for streaming, but lots of us want the files on our PC so we can copy it down to our MP3 devices. It is time to look at those sites where you pay to own the tracks you want. Macintosh’s iTunes site, designed to get the best from the iPod, is at www.itunes.com - it is the top site at the moment. You are charged ninety nine cents for each song you download, but the quality is excellent and the track is yours to keep.

Other sites are always fighting for this lucrative market, each offering similar but slightly different services. There are many that work on a monthly-fee basis rather than billing by track. And a new and slightly different concept is mercora (www.mercora.com). Here you pay a small monthly fee and share tracks - you broadcast your tracks (you can make like a DJ if you want) whilst you record the tracks broadcast by others. Mercora pays a fee for broadcast rights which makes it within the law.

Most of these sites offer a free trial, so why not give a few a go, pick up some free tracks and decide which service you like best.

How many times have you said to yourself?
* This music keeps falling off the piano.
* Where is that song? I can never find the page.
* When am I going to do something about this music?
* I’m tired of stopping in the middle of the piece just to turn the page.
* I can’t believe it, the recital was only three weeks ago, and I forgot how much I liked that piece.

Think about how frustrated you have been by trying to deal with the majority of your musical material constantly in such a mess!

Think of how many times you couldn’t face going to the piano simply because the thought of pulling your music together was far too overwhelming.

Wouldn’t you like to maximize the return on the investment that you have made and continue to make in your musical development?

As they say in the business world:

What’s your ROI (Return On Investment)?

After countless hours of practice, many years of piano lessons, hundreds of dollars spent on instruction and sheet music, you’re stuck, frustrated and immobilized.

Why not take advantage of your freer summer season schedule to stay connected to your musical favorites?

Here’s how: just follow this simple step-by-step method:

1. Pull all of your music books together into one place
2. Look through one book at a time to remind yourself which pieces you enjoy playing and mark each piece with a post-it note or paper clip
3. Make photocopies of each selection
4. Sort all of the music into stacks of categories.
5. Here are some suggested types of groups:
a) Classical and popular styles
b) Fast and slow tempos
c) By composer, group or singer
d) Key signature
5. Pick an organizing system
a) Looseleaf books with non-glare page protectors
b) Pocket folders (put labels on the front)
c) File folders: staple each piece onto a folder and put these into a portable filing system
6. Experiment: once the music is organized in one of these three ways, you can change the order or arrangement of music for a few practice sessions until it feels satisfying.

One Final Note

Organizing your music is a surefire method for increasing your return on investment.

Yes, it will take some effort, but it will really pay off.

You will have created a dependable tool which is guaranteed to energize your musical growth and development.

You will gain a whole new perspective on practicing the piano, and you’ll feel great about yourself!

It’s Not Too Late!
